Mr.Zhou Chunhui, Party Committee Secretary of Zhengzhou Institute of Technology, led a 5-person delegation visited Auckland University of Technology on March 2, 2018. They had a deep discussion with Ms Marlene Lu, the Director of International Relationship Development Department of Auckland University of Technology and Karen Day, the Academic Advisor of International Relationship Development Department of AUT on the two school's cooperation.
Ms. Marlene Lu described the development of AUT, especially the school has developed rapidly since the New Zealand government officially granted the status of a national university in 2000. In the process of development, Auckland University of Technology adheres to the path of internationalization and ranked 15th in the QS World University Internationalization Ranking. At present, there are 4194 foreign students, including 1,903 Chinese students. It has good cooperation with Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology, Shenzhen University, Guangzhou University of Technology, Jinan University, China Institute of Metrology and other universities, and has carried out 2+2, 3+1+1 cooperation in running schools and exchanges between teachers and students.
Mr. Zhou Chunhui introduced the basic situation of the school, emphasized the importance of actively developing foreign exchanges, and introduced quality education resources both at home and abroad. This is the inevitable result of the transformation and development of our university. The experience of the rapid development of Technology and it's adherence to the international development path is a strong reference for ZIT.
The two sides conducted serious consultations on the issue of studying abroad and studying in the school. AUT responded positively and suggested that the short-term communication should be used as a starting point and gradually be advanced to joint training. After carefully learning about the continuing training and curriculum of the AUT, the two sides reached preliminary intentions on the medium and long-term cooperation of teachers.
The visit was well-prepared during the early period and communicated frankly during the visit to achieve the expected results. It laid the foundation for cooperation and exchange with high-level Australian universities and further promoted the process of cultivating international talents in our university. After the visit, the delegation held a discussion meeting and summarized the visit. In order to implement the results of the visit, Mr.Zhou Chunhui pointed out that the next step is to actively engage with relevant universities to strive and achieve substantial cooperation and achieve results as soon as possible. The second is to use this activity as an opportunity to further increase foreign exchanges. We will focus on cultivating the schools’ strengths and disciplines in a focused manner. The third is to seriously sort out the school-running experience and actively promote the transformation and development of schools.
