Seminar on Sino-British Cooperation Project “The English Teaching and Development of Deaf People and Internet Resources” was Held in Our School

The seminar on the "Deaf People English Teaching and Network Resources Development" project jointly organized by the School of Special Education of Zhengzhou Insititute of Technology and the University of Central Lancashire in the UK was held on March 29, 2018 in the School of Special Education of ZIT. The DPETNRD project is an international cooperation project funded by the British Council and jointly administered by the Central Lancashire University and our university. It aims to improve the ability of deaf people to learn English using sign language.

The meeting was chaired by Prof. Meng Fanling, Dean of the Special Education Institute. The guests who participated in the conference included teachers from the University of Central Lancashire in the United Kingdom, heads of cooperation projects, and Dr. Yang Junhui, visiting professor of the Zhengzhou Institute of Technology and Technology, professor of the University of the San Diego, and guest of Zhengzhou University of Engineering and Technology. Vice President Gan Yong delivered a speech. He represented the school and expressed his warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude to the experts and scholars attending the meeting for guiding the project for thousands of miles. He also introduced the purpose, principles, and personnel training of my school education, and also reflected on us. The inadequacies in the education and prospects for future development. He pointed out that English teaching for deaf people is a teaching problem facing the world. The Sino-British cooperation project is undertaken by our school. It is a full affirmation and a high degree of trust in our school education. The “Seventh World Sign Language Conference” successfully held by our university in 2014 and the China-Malaysian Deaf Studying Program implemented by our university in 2017 laid the foundation for the project. On December 3, 2017, General Secretary Xi Jinping sent a letter of congratulation to the high-level intergovernmental meeting for mid-term review of the Asia-Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons 2013-2022: People with disabilities are equal members of the human family. We must promote sustainable development on a global scale and realize the goal of "one can not be less." We should pay special attention to people with disabilities and pay special attention to it. The Nineteenth National Party Congress made it clear that it is necessary to "do a good job of special education," and put forward higher requirements and solemn promises for the development of special education. President Gan expressed in the end that he believes that with the joint efforts of everyone, the deaf man will certainly be better tomorrow.

Ms. Lin Chuan, deputy director of the school office, introduced the project application process to the participants; the project leader Yang Junhui introduced the progress of the project on behalf of the British side; the project’s Chinese English teacher Han Jianyun reported on the progress of the project and the medium-term results of the project on behalf of the Chinese side. The project “Based on the Sign Language of the Deaf People in the Context of International Communication - English Teaching and Research” was clearly established as a research project by the China Disabled Persons’ Federation; the deaf professor from the University of the San Diego University evaluated the progress of the project and put forward its own opinions and opinions. Suggest. The director of the Institute of Special Education Meng Fanling proposed that he hopes that China, the United Kingdom, and the United States will cooperate in the training of outstanding English teachers in the Zhengzhou Institute of Engineering and Technology to provide outstanding teachers for English learning.

Professor Gan Yong emphasized in the final summary that the school will continue to give strong support to the Sino-British cooperation projects. I believe that as the project research continues to deepen, it will be able to provide more technical and experience support for our school's deaf people's English teaching; We will fully support the development of special education undertakings, stress the moving stories of special education in our school, and form high-level teaching and research achievements as soon as possible. Do a good job in innovation and entrepreneurship education for the deaf, continue to improve the quality of running schools and the level of running schools, persist in giving full play to the advantages of our school resources, do a good job in deaf education and sign language translation, and make our contribution to the harmonious development of the society.
